Al4aZz
I think this will be a good idea if we had unlimited lives (in the same style as minecraft), each time you die, you re-spawn in a place like his having finished all over again each time we die. ARamblingSpider
Sorry but Don't Starve is a roguelike game, (Perma death and no compromises), plus the unlimited lives trick would ruin the game. Battal
Don't Starve is completely built around the permadeath principle. Adding respawning would not only ruin the game completely, but would also force the devs to recode half of it as well. So sorry, but no. Silentdarkness1
No and- Wait, I should stop right there. I would use the full statement, but i'd probably get a warning point for doing so. If not a ban. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/31459-stop-to-a-number-of-limited-life/#findComment-413677 Share on other sites

DrPoppycock
On! Er.. wait. I think I might have that all backwards. But seriously, DS is totally built around the perma-death. That's what hooked me in the first place - the struggle to get farther and farther and learn more and more things. I'm sure there's probably a mod that can give you this though, or you could use the console commands to spawn a bunch of touch stones around the map. There's always options! myfault
about mods:http://forums.kleientertainment.com/files/file/386-compromising-survival/I think this is the feature you're looking for. As for the ingame implementation of this - it would spoil the game and make it too easy. Also items like touchstones, effigys and life giving amulets would become worthless. Knowing that a single wrong move could stomp all over your hard work is something that made the game seem so much more interesting! It makes you want to be cautious; makes you really s*** bricks when something happens in the later game because you know there'll be actual consequences to your actions. It makes the game that much more exciting. Doomfan64
Seems to me like most of you didn't even read the OP past "unlimited lives". He's saying that you should respawn in a completely different, unknown area. It'd basically be like making a new world, only with the interesting concept of being able to find your own abandoned structures. And then boons would become renewable in a way! Expanding on this, there should be a simulation of some time passing. 14 days's worth of events would happen from the point when you died to the point that you'd respawn. Certain structures would have a weaker "ruined" variant, and some of it might have even disappeared (Like wood walls could have rotted away or stone could have become brittle). Perhaps you have to fight a "Fallen" miniboss where you died last time too.
